Ernest Garry

Ernest ‘Ernie’ Garry, passed away on May 8, 2024, at his Melville, New York home; he was 89. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sandy; children Patti (Brian) Riordan of Melville, NY and Michael (Ilene) Garry of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren Matthew and Ryan Riordan, and April Garry. Preceded in death by his parents Moric Goldfinger and Lucie Gold, and stepfather William Gold.

Ernest was born in Katowice, Poland on November 3, 1934, and immigrated to the United States in 1941. He graduated from The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in 1957.

Ernest was passionate about photography, the New York Yankees, and classic automobiles. Whatever he did, he gave 110% effort. Always the student, he was invariably hungry to learn more. In retirement, he watched many classic films, learned computer programming and photo printing.

His children will remember their dad as “all-in and ever-patient”, and for his gentle demeanor and quiet strength.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, 11:30 am at Mount Eden Cemetery, 20 Commerce St., Hawthorne, NY.
