Alternative Venues

As cremation gains in popularity more and more people seek alternatives to the traditional funeral home setting. Cremation offers the flexibility to hold a service or life celebration practically anywhere at any time which creates less reliance on funeral home facilities, not to mention substantial savings or no cost at all. Service venues include crematory chapels, parks, gardens, museums, homes, and beaches, to name a few. The staff at Kleinberg Funeral Services is well-versed on alternative locations and can assist you in planning a fitting tribute for your loved one.

A personal experience:

In the summer of 2013 my brother, Ira Kleinberg died suddenly. He was cremated according to his wishes. He lived in California, far away from his parents and siblings. Ira had a great group of friends and coworkers. He enjoyed the outdoors and in particular, spending time in his friend’s community garden. That’s why it was only fitting to have a celebration of Ira’s life attended by his family, extended family and friends in his favorite place. Ira’s friends did an amazing job setting up a tribute in the greenhouse, gathering his friends and setting a table full of delicious food. Ira was not religious, so clergy wasn’t necessary. Everyone gathered in a big circle, held hands and each had a few moments to share a special memory of their time with Ira. Of my many years in funeral service, I found this setting to be the most comforting, think of it often, and share this experience with families seeking a less traditional alternative.
